vintage 1930s knitting pattern for dress

Patons 2917L: Fabulous 1930s knitting pattern for dress in thick double knitting, must do a tension square for this one and change needles to suit as the fabric must be quite firm to keep its shape- in the materials it asks for 6 glass rings! These are to hold the laces at the front and can easily be substituted in brass or similar. The length is 42" but can be knitted to any length, but to be authentic remember that dresses had returned to almost ankle length (mid calf at the very least) again by the 1930s, with the long slender lines seen here. Also remember that if pure wool is used it may drop a little in washing and wearing so a bit shorter may work well.   (click to go to ladies dress pages)
