vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern 1940s Maygroves 224: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern 1941. There are two jumpers in this pattern, both knitted in vintage 4ply, so try modern double knitting and see if you need to change needles. Deep welt and interesting designs, all marks of the 1940s. One has a polo neck the other a low round neck with deep rib. Both are fitted and very smart. The round neck has a cable pattern and the other one a diagonal design. Both to fit 34-35 inch bust.

The jumper is in a double rib pattern, that gives a superb fit and has a shoulder button fastening and short sleeves. The cardigan is in simple stocking stitch with deep rib and pockets in the rib with set in sleeves and slight V neck. To fit 34-36 inch bust. Knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square.

Mountain Maid 241L: Fabulous ladies vintage evening jumper knitting pattern. 1940s. This is so elegant, would look great with evening trousers or long skirt or shorter cocktail length skirt, the bows are velvet. To fit 34-36 inch bust. The jumper is knitted in bouclé, which you can still get, but if not try modern 4ply in a tension square (7stitches and 8 rows to an inch on no 10 needles (3.25mm) worked in stocking stitch and moss stitch, this little jumper is shaped to give that elegant fitted look.

This super design is easy to knit and very smart, would look just a good with jeans, slacks or a pencil skirt. This jumper is knitted in panels, the jumper itself is knitted in one shade and then the white is used to create the lacy insertion along with the main colour. Always work a tension square, this one is to fit 36 inch bust.

This style was very popular in the 1930s and into the 1940s as it served as a jumper or a cardigan. The little bow at the neck is optional but does give it the true vintage look. Easy to knit in stocking stitch, with deep rib and neat set in sleeves this design is very useful. To fit 38 inch bust. Although no tension is give for this one it would probably worked in a 4ply. Work a tension square anyway and it is easy to work out if you have the right tension by seeing how many stitches to an inch you need for your size.

This button through cardigan will serve well s a jumper, nice deep rib with neat yoke ribbed for lovely fit. This stitch was described as 'new' at the time. Always work a tension square, to fit 34 inch bust and worked in a vintage 3ply, that may well knit as a modern fine 4ply.

The original was knitted in what was known as a 'suede' yarn, a soft wool yarn that low loft (most modern baby yarns have a high loft to help you compare.) Note the cuffs on this design, they are slightly flared then ribbed to keep neat and the collar is elongated. Very nice, unusual design.
