Maygroves 224: Great vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern 1941. There are two jumpers in this pattern, both knitted in vintage 4ply, so try modern double knitting and see if you need to change needles. Deep welt and interesting designs, all marks of the 1940s. One has a polo neck the other a low round neck with deep rib. Both are fitted and very smart. The round neck has a cable pattern and the other one a diagonal design. Both to fit 34-35 inch bust.

The jumper is in a double rib pattern, that gives a superb fit and has a shoulder button fastening and short sleeves. The cardigan is in simple stocking stitch with deep rib and pockets in the rib with set in sleeves and slight V neck. To fit 34-36 inch bust. Mountain Maid 223: Great vintage ladies cardigan and short sleeved jumper knitting pattern from late 1940s. This one has instructions for the pretty cathedral window pane style jumper and the leaf design cardigan. Both are knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square and both fit 34-36 inch bust. Very pretty and very of the era. Jumper closes with placket at back with 4 small buttons.

Mountain Maid 229: Great vintage ladies long line cardigan knitting pattern from 1940s. This super design is very retro, looks smart for the office or an event. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply to fit 34-36 inch chest. Beautifully fitted with neat waist and set in sleeves. The pockets can be worked in a plain slip stitch or in the fair isle as shown.

Mountain Maid 241L: Fabulous ladies vintage evening jumper knitting pattern. 1940s. This is so elegant, would look great with evening trousers or long skirt or shorter cocktail length skirt, the bows are velvet. To fit 34-36 inch bust. The jumper is knitted in bouclé, which you can still get, but if not try modern 4ply in a tension square (7stitches and 8 rows to an inch on no 10 needles (3.25mm) worked in stocking stitch and moss stitch, this little jumper is shaped to give that elegant fitted look. colour pdf £1.50 |

Munrospun 79: Great vintage ladies tennis coat from late 1920s. This super design is easy to knit and very smart, would look just a good with jeans, slacks or a pencil skirt. Knitted on large needles size imperial 2 or 7mm to get a tension of 4 stitches to an inch - so an Aran wool might work or thick double knitting. To fit 34 inch chest. Quick and easy to knit. There are illustrations of other patterns that were available at the time on the back page.

Munrospun 2371: Great vintage ladies lacy jumper knitting pattern late 1930s. This is a lovely design for a jumper with short and long sleeves, deep welt and nicely shaped with set in sleeves to give that tailored look. I would try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed to get the correct tension. To fit 34 inch bust. Pattern for sale has a crease down centre, but is sound and clean, with interesting advert on back page for other pattern that would have been available at the time.

This jumper is knitted in panels, the jumper itself is knitted in one shade and then the white is used to create the lacy insertion along with the main colour. Always work a tension square, this one is to fit 36 inch bust.

MW5-9 Anastasia: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper-coatee from 1930s. This style was very popular in the 1930s and into the 1940s as it served as a jumper or a cardigan. The little bow at the neck is optional but does give it the true vintage look. Easy to knit in stocking stitch, with deep rib and neat set in sleeves this design is very useful. To fit 38 inch bust. Although no tension is give for this one it would probably worked in a 4ply. Work a tension square anyway and it is easy to work out if you have the right tension by seeing how many stitches to an inch you need for your size.

MW5-11 Arabella: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a cardigan from 1930s. This button through cardigan will serve well s a jumper, nice deep rib with neat yoke ribbed for lovely fit. This stitch was described as 'new' at the time. Always work a tension square, to fit 34 inch bust and worked in a vintage 3ply, that may well knit as a modern fine 4ply.

This neat design is knitted in a 4ply, the low neck has a reveres in the yoke section or you can sew up completely and have low round neck. Mostly knitted in moss stitch with a rib yoke giving a neat fit. Always work a tensions square, to fit a 34 inch bust. I like this one, nice for long walk with the dog in the spring or autumn (fall).

You can find many vintage buttons on the internet that look amazing on these old designs.

MW5-22 Anne: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper from 1930s. This youthful design is to fit 35 inch bust and is knitted in a 4ply. The original was knitted in what was known as a 'suede' yarn, a soft wool yarn that low loft (most modern baby yarns have a high loft to help you compare.) Note the cuffs on this design, they are slightly flared then ribbed to keep neat and the collar is elongated. Very nice, unusual design.

MW11-Maria: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jacket or coatee from 1930s. This pattern is worked in a bouclé and should fit 34-36 inch bust. If working in anther type of wool or yarn make sure you do a tension square to make 16 stitches to 3 inches. So a modern double knitting should work, don't forget you an change needle size to get the right tension. There is modern bouclé available but make sure it is of a double knitting weight.
