Knitted in a 4ply that would be the same today to fit 34-36 inch chest. Neat and easy to knit in a large brick stitch. Always work a tension square.

Beryl 347-4 Moscow: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper from 1936. This one is a round neck knitted in a 4ply that would be similar today’s plys. Suggestions fro different linen collars or scarves to decorate the neck line included. To fit a 34 inch bust. Always work a tension square. Knitted in a new (in 1936, stitch known then as the Vienna Stitch).

This easy to knit design is worked in a thicker yarn partly and a thinner one for sections, try to match shades or work as a contrast. To fit 34 inch bust. This unusual design has an interesting neck line. Not for the novice this one, but delightful challenge. Always work a tension square. If you can't find the matching shades, use the 3ply (try modern 4ply) throughout, doubled for the thicker yarn parts in a tension square and change down a size of needles if needed for the thicker parts.

Another simple to knit jumper, ribbed yoke back and front gives a perfect fit. Deep welt and sit on waist style reflects future styling. Knitted in what was known a Speedwool, a thicker yarn similar to thick modern double knitting or a fine Aran. Always work a tension square and change needles to get correct tension for size. To fit 36 inch bust.

vintage ladies jumper to fit 36 inch bust from 1930s MW5-7 Alma: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper from 1930s. This unusual design has a lacy vest insert knitted in a 4ply. This jumper is knitted in panels, the jumper itself is knitted in one shade and then the white is used to create the lacy insertion along with the main colour. Always work a tension square, this one is to fit 36 inch bust.

vintage ladies knitting pattern for coatee jumper from 1930s to fit 38 inch bust MW5-9 Anastasia: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper-coatee from 1930s. This style was very popular in the 1930s and into the 1940s as it served as a jumper or a cardigan. The little bow at the neck is optional but does give it the true vintage look. Easy to knit in stocking stitch, with deep rib and neat set in sleeves this design is very useful. To fit 38 inch bust. Although no tension is give for this one it would probably worked in a 4ply. Work a tension square anyway and it is easy to work out if you have the right tension by seeing how many stitches to an inch you need for your size.

vintage ladies yoke cardigasn to fit 34 inch bust from 1930s MW5-11 Arabella: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a cardigan from 1930s. This button through cardigan will serve well s a jumper, nice deep rib with neat yoke ribbed for lovely fit. This stitch was described as 'new' at the time. Always work a tension square, to fit 34 inch bust and worked in a vintage 3ply, that may well knit as a modern fine 4ply.

A neat design for a jumper with deep, deep rib, interesting stitch work to fit 34 inch bust. This jumper is worked in a fine 4ply, always work a tension square. It should be noted that not all early patterns gave a tension square. But it is easy to work out.

This neat design is knitted in a 4ply, the low neck has a reveres in the yoke section or you can sew up completely and have low round neck. Mostly knitted in moss stitch with a rib yoke giving a neat fit. Always work a tensions square, to fit a 34 inch bust. I like this one, nice for long walk with the dog in the spring or autumn (fall).

This neat design is to fit a 34 inch bust and is worked in 4ply, change needle if needed after working a tension square. This lovely pattern has a alternated rib welt and cuffs, a mock smocked yoke and a neat collar, the sleeves have a panel of the smock stitch up the length. The neck is fastened by two buttons. You can find many vintage buttons on the internet that look amazing on these old designs.

This relaxed fit cardigan is so comfy to war with its low buttoned rib and gentle V front. With subtle cable in panels it is knitted in vintage 3ply that should knit well as a modern 4ply, but do work a tension square and change needles if needed. To fit 38-40 inch bust.

ladies vintage knitting pattern for jumper to fit 35 inch bust from 1930s MW5-22 Anne: Great vintage ladies knitting pattern for a jumper from 1930s. This youthful design is to fit 35 inch bust and is knitted in a 4ply. The original was knitted in what was known as a 'suede' yarn, a soft wool yarn that low loft (most modern baby yarns have a high loft to help you compare.) Note the cuffs on this design, they are slightly flared then ribbed to keep neat and the collar is elongated. Very nice, unusual design.
